This week I wasn't sure what I wanted to research about mapping mashups, so I thought I would just do a general search and see what would come up. When doing so I found this interesting website that groups various mapping mashups and puts them all in one location. There are mashups from basketball tournaments, fishing spots, unsafe cities etc. This website also allows you to "follow" the mashups as well. I'm not entirely sure what they mean by this but I am assuming that the website would update of any changes made to that mashup. I personally enjoyed looking at the various mashups that are created because I didn't realize the wide variety of them. I'll post the website below so you all can have look! Let me know if you come across any that surprise you or are ones that you would like to follow!
The website is: http://www.programmableweb.com/tag/mapping
Hi Angela,
ReplyDeleteFirst time for me hearing about Mashups. I'm not sure as well. I searched this tool can bring information from resources for new application creation such as Google map. Thanks for sharing.
I think student will enjoy creating and I like it when it is easy. I agree that the variety is as big as imagination to create it.

Angela,
ReplyDeleteI am visiting from another group...and I'm glad I did! I heard someone use the term "mashup" recently. I liked it, but was not in a position to ask what it meant at the time. So, here you've provided me with a website - which I checked out - to discover this new map/idea/collage.
Thanks! Looks like lots of fun.

That is pretty interesting with all the different categories you can follow with mash ups. Its a creative way of organizing and following something!

mashup can be entertaining and exciting for student and I can see why teachers would like to create and use them.

Angela,
ReplyDeleteThe website you provided is interesting. I found 2008 Beijing Olympics Torch Relay Path~haha.
I will try to find something next week in the website for my trip in New Year from San Francisco to Los Angeles~exciting!
Angela this website seems to organize the mapping mashups well but you are right there are so many different categories addressed it is interesting. I happened to click on events and the first thing on the list was wedding tent venues. It looks like they have a lot covered on this site.
ReplyDeleteAngela,
ReplyDeleteI really like the idea of having a collection of a specific idea in one mashup. You've provided me with so much information this semester about mashups because before ive never even heard of them. Thanks!
