I came across this youtube video that shows a famous author of books discussing topics surrounding the brain and learning and his take on mindmaps. I think he brings up a couple good points during his interview, but there are some that I don't agree with as well. The ideas I like is when he described mindmaps as "a thinking tool that reflects externally what goes on inside your head." I also agree with him when he talks about how mindmaps are effective because they make associations with multiple ideas. What I don't necessarily agree with him on is when he said that rigid lines in mindmaps don't make them as effective. These are my thoughts on the interview....I was wondering what you all thought!

Hi Angela,
ReplyDeleteHere I am again~lol
After watching this video, VARK just came into my mind. Different people learn in different ways. For me, my visual part has higher points, then mindmap is a great method for me. But I think for those who are aural type, maybe mindmap is not a good choice for them. But mostly, I think mindmap helps us tremendously. Just like he said, our brain is radiant, it thinks centrally and explodes out in all directions. Mindmaps greatly imitate our brain in order to help us understand and memorize what we learn.
Angela,
ReplyDeleteI agree with you and Vivi on a lot of the things you have discussed so far. I think the most important part is that mindmaps give so many multiple associations. I think this helps because you can not only are brainstorming down one path but you can start realizing other ideas as well!
Yes, my topic was Youtube and this is good example how useful it can be. Mind maps are really good and in discussions we have mentioned how useful they can be for children learning difficulties.
